Welcome to the Sleep and Psychosocial Adjustment Lab @ Wesleyan University!

Our research program examines the link between sleep behaviors and various indices of psychosocial adjustment (e.g., social media use, emotion regulation, substance use, interpersonal relationships), with a focus on the older adolescent (15-18 years old) and emerging adulthood (18 - 29 years old) years. Specific research goals include:

  1. To examine the temporal order/direction of associations between sleep characteristics and psychosocial variables over time.

  2. To examine mechanisms/mediators of the link between sleep and psychosocial adjustment.

  3. To assess individual differences (e.g., chronotype) in the link between sleep and psychosocial adjustment.

  4. To understand the factors that contribute to racial-ethnic disparities in sleep and well-being.

  5. To examine the role of cortisol (stress) in relation to sleep and psychological well-being.

  6. A secondary line of work examines the link between meaning-making and psychological functioning within the context of life story narratives.
